The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola to the United States, Agostinho Van-Dúnem, received Mr. Austin Cooper, representative of the William O. Lockridge Community Foundation (WOLCF), for a meeting on Tuesday, March 5.
During the meeting, Mr. Austin Cooper outlined the main mission of the William O. Lockridge Community Foundation (WOLCF), which seeks to support high school seniors from selected neighborhoods in the U.S. capital by facilitating their access to higher education through scholarships, emergency financial assistance, and international exchange opportunities.
One of WOLCF’s flagship initiatives is the International Ambassadors Program, which takes students to an African country each year. This year, Angola was selected as the program’s destination, with the visit scheduled for July. On March 22, the Foundation will hold an awards ceremony to announce the five students selected to participate in the trip.
The initiative aims to provide young people with an enriching experience, allowing them to gain first-hand knowledge of Angola’s culture, traditions, and the daily life of the Angolan people.
The visit by the WOLCF representative reinforces the Government of Angola’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote education and cultural exchange between Angola and the United States, while highlighting the importance of cooperation with international institutions in advancing youth development.
The meeting was also attended by First Secretary Priscila De Lemos, Head of the Cultural and Social Affairs Sector.
